Troubleshooting Disconnections when uploading via FTP

If you successfully upload one file and then get "failed port" messages for subsequent files, or other sporadic errors, and you're using Outlook 2000, make sure to close Outlook before starting to FTP.

The MS Outlook 2000 program, when set to check for new mail, conflicts with FTP.

You'll want to shut down Outlook before connecting with FTP, and then the problem will not recur.
