Macintosh: Using Free PPP

You must first download FreePPP.

Double Click on the FreePPP installer
Click Next until it asks you to restart your computer
When your computer restarts, the FreePPP will be installed. You will have a phone in the upper right corner of your computer screen.
Click on the phone
Choose, Open FreePPP Setup
When it opens, in the Connect To - click the arrows and select Create a New Account.
Name the account eclecTechs.
Choose connect directly.
Enter username and password. NOTE: Make sure you put the @valinet.com after your username.
Do not check off reconnect automatically.
Do not click OK yet.
Click on Dialup.
Put in one of our 56k access numbers.
Leave the alternate number blank.
Do Not check use area code, or dial as long distance.
Do not click OK yet.
Press the Options tab.
In the Domain Name, put valinet.com
In Primary DNS - put 159.250.24.7
In Secondary DNS - put 159.250.24.8
Do Not check configure OT TCP/IP
IP = Server Assigned
Press OK
Press yes if it asks you if you don't want to use area code.
Leave the From and Modem the way it is.
If it says "The selected modem port is unavailable right now. Please select another port.", just hit OK.

At this point, FreePPP is setup, but we need to make a change to your TCP/IP settings.

Click on the Apple.
Select Control Panel.
Select TCP/IP
In the TCP/IP you will find the Name Server Address: in that box put in 159.250.24.7 then hit return and put in 159.250.24.8
Close TCP/IP and hit save.

You are now ready to connect using FreePPP.
